Ontario changed Regulation 422/17 with effect from June 25, 2026. The change removed the eight existing OINP streams, including the three Express Entry streams, and created one new stream, the Ontario Workforce Priority stream. Ontario says no further invitations will be issued under the former streams, and EOIs that never led to an invitation are withdrawn automatically. Applications already submitted after an invitation are still assessed under the old rules.

Ontario has not yet published an Ontario Workforce Priority invitation round on its 2026 updates page, so there is no cut-off score to compare with yet. On October 14, 2026 Ontario launched a new round of its Regional Economic Development through Immigration (REDI) initiative for Greater Sudbury, Kenora District, Nipissing District, Rainy River District, Renfrew County and Thunder Bay. REDI uses the normal OINP criteria.

Ontario Workforce Priority points (max 132)

Ontario does not publish a maximum. 132 is the sum of the top band in each factor. The earnings bands changed on October 5, 2026, when $80,000 or more became worth 10 points; Ontario applied that to existing EOIs automatically.

Self-employed physicians do not get wage points, and their Ontario work factor counts cumulative medical practice in Ontario on the same 18 / 15 / 12 scale. The region is taken from the practice address on the OHIP billing registration.

Scoring factors are not the same as eligibility. For a TEER 0 to 3 job offer Ontario lists CLB 6 (CLB 5 for certain occupations), a post-secondary degree or diploma, and work experience such as 6 consecutive months in the last 12 in the job offer position. For TEER 4 and 5 jobs it lists CLB 4, a secondary school diploma or equivalent, and 9 months of cumulative experience in the last 2 years in the position with the same employer. The full list is on the ontario.ca stream page.

A provincial nomination is worth 600 CRS points only when it comes through an Express Entry-aligned stream. Under the Ontario Workforce Priority stream, applicants with a TEER 0 to 3 job and self-employed physicians can ask to be nominated through Express Entry if they also meet a federal Express Entry program and keep a valid profile. Everyone else applies for PR outside Express Entry, so the nomination does not add CRS points. To see where you stand federally, check your CRS score and the latest Express Entry draws.

FAQ

What is the maximum OINP score?

Under the Ontario Workforce Priority grid the top band of every factor adds up to 132. Ontario does not publish a maximum itself. The closed International Student stream topped out at 118 and the Masters and PhD streams at 75.

Can I still apply to the OINP Masters Graduate or PhD Graduate stream?

No. Both were removed on June 25, 2026 with the other former streams, and Ontario says no further invitations will be issued under them. Graduates now need a job offer under the Ontario Workforce Priority stream.

What score do I need for an Ontario Workforce Priority invitation?

Nobody knows yet. Ontario opened the EOI portal on August 4, 2026, but no OWP invitation round had been published when we last checked. Treat any cut-off you see online as a guess until Ontario posts one.
