Methodology
This page explains how the CRS Meter calculator works, which official sources it follows and how we keep it in line with IRCC.
Two rule sets
The calculator holds the rules in force until November 2, 2026 and the rules that start on November 3, 2026, when IRCC adds the labour market integration factor. It picks the right set from today’s date, and you can switch between them to compare.
Points tables
Every number in the engine is copied from the canada.ca CRS criteria page and the 2026 changes page. Language scores are converted to CLB with IRCC’s equivalency charts, ability by ability. FSW points follow the six selection factors and IRPR section 78.
Testing
An automated test suite checks the engine against worked examples: maximum scores, age and education steps, spouse factors, the skill transferability caps, French bonus points, the 150-point cap on the new factor and test-to-CLB conversions. The tests run on every change and must pass before the site is published.
Draw data
Draw history comes from IRCC’s public rounds file. A scheduled job fetches it every two hours on weekdays and rebuilds the site when there is a new round. The tracker currently holds 453 rounds. The raw copy we use is at /data/draws.json.
Limits
The calculator gives an estimate from what you enter. IRCC decides your real score from your profile and documents. Program eligibility, proof of funds and admissibility are not covered by the CRS score.
